in january, my orchestra – the munich philharmonic orchestra – went on tour with our chief conductor valery gergiev across europe. the third stop was amsterdam, where we played in the beautiful concertgebouw. it was cold, rainy and quite windy, but I had to use the few hours between landing in schiphol and the rehearsal to explore the city center.
